Sunderland Arts and Culture Trail 2024

July 01, 2024

Calling all sweet tooths! Step into my summery corner of the Art Trail at The Glass Onion, Sunderland, and get ready to feast your eyes (and maybe even imagine a taste!).

These miniature artworks are an explosion of flavour, inspired by the joy of indulging in our favourite desserts. Creating these quirky treats has been a blast – and guess what? As I write this, I'm finally off to reward myself with a real sugary masterpiece! I hope you're inspired to do the same ;)

About the Art:

Each piece is a meticulously crafted world, bursting with colour and texture. Using gouache paints, inks, and a sprinkle of magic (okay, maybe sequins and beads!), I've brought these miniature desserts to life on little panels. Each piece also boasts hand-stitched details, adding a touch of whimsical charm – a testament to the time and love poured into each piece (the smaller ones take around 7 hours from conception to completion, with the larger ones taking even longer).

Interested in taking a bite?

Every sweet treat is available to take home with you! You can purchase them directly from the venue during the exhibition which runs from Saturday 6th July until Sunday 21st July. Ready to explore more? Happy Art Trail hopping!

“A great, big pudding

Out of such a tiny pot!

It’s best you do the right thing

And feed your hungry chops!”
